Summarizy - Essay Example But after he escapes from the cave, he becomes able to realize the concrete reality in front of his eye through reasoning that is an essential part of a manââ¬â¢s education. When the escaped prisoner of Platoââ¬â¢s Cave is confronted with the reality of the concrete world, he, first, becomes confounded and distrusts what he sees in front of his eyes, as Plato says, ââ¬Å"When approaches the light, his eye will be dazzled and he will not be able to see anything at all of what are now called realitiesâ⬠(Plato 451). But gradually he finds that the world out of the cave is realer than the world in the cave. Since the prisoner is a human being, he can reason. Therefore his reasoning capability dispels the smear of subjectivity and relativity of view and assigns human mind with a greater objectivity. Plato asserts that reality can be deceptive. Generations after generations, the prisoners live the same naive and ignorant life in the caves, until one of the prisoners starts questioning. This prisoner breaks the chains that bind him and in order to know the real truth, escapes the caves into the mysterious world. In the outside world, the philosopher faces many challenges, as he is not used to the sunlight, to the presence of nature and all its elements around him. A philosopher, in spite of these difficulties, starts exploring this new world to seek reality. He walks on a lonely, unfamiliar path to discover the truth, but does not give up his questioning spirit. At one point, the philosopher thinks of going back to the caves to tell the other prisoners about the reality. To tell them that there is a beautiful world out there, waiting for them and that there is more to life than just the cave and its make-believe reality as showed by the shadows.
